How does the £79 assessment help us recommend the right repair?

An experienced engineer assesses the complete bifold doorset, talks you through the findings on site, and provides a written report with a quotation for any recommended repairs. The £79 professional assessment includes a complete inspection of the doorset. No repair work is carried out during the assessment. The report and itemised quotation follow by email, giving you the findings and repair options to review before deciding whether to proceed. If you go ahead with a repair, the £79 assessment fee is credited against it. The fee is refunded if we cannot provide a quotation.

How long does the assessment take?

The time on site depends on the faults reported and identified during the visit, and varies accordingly. The average is around 60 minutes.

What happens during the assessment?

An experienced engineer assesses the complete bifold doorset, talks you through the findings on site, and provides a written report with a quotation for any recommended repairs. It is an assessment only: no repair work is carried out during the visit.

What happens after the assessment?

After the assessment, you receive a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email. Any repair work is arranged separately, giving you time to review the findings and decide how to proceed. You can review the findings and decide whether to proceed before any work begins.

What types of bifold-door problems do you repair?

Pro-Lock repairs jammed doorsets and can carry out complete doorset overhauls where appropriate. A complete doorset overhaul is a repair option used when frame distortion is beyond the manufacturer’s tolerances and/or panel realignment cannot compensate for the degree of frame distortion. It can include structural repairs where the frame is distorted, but not every complete overhaul requires structural frame repair. We also work on fractured hinges; broken, worn, or disconnected rollers; dragging or misaligned panels; panels catching thresholds or headers; difficult locking; faulty locks, cylinders, handles, and keeps; and worn or damaged tracks and seals.

Do I need to identify the brand or doorset before contacting you?

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.

Can you repair older or obsolete bifold-door systems?

Pro-Lock repairs many bifold-door systems that other repairers class as obsolete, using an established European supplier network to source parts where appropriate. Parts availability and the condition of the doorset determine whether a suitable repair can be quoted, so we do not guarantee that every repair will be possible.

What is toe and heel?

Toe and heel is a glazing method using manufacturer-specific glazing packers positioned at diagonally opposite corners of the glass pane. They help keep the sash square and level, supporting smooth movement along the tracks and, where relevant, lock alignment with the strike plate. They can also help prevent sagging and panels catching at the top or bottom. It is one important area checked when appropriate; toe and heel is not the cause of every alignment fault.

Do you repair aluminium, uPVC, timber and hybrid bifold doorsets?

Pro-Lock has extensive experience working with aluminium, uPVC, timber, and hybrid bifold doorsets. The material and system help inform the assessment, and the complete doorset is checked so the repair recommendation fits the door in front of us.

What happens if parts are unavailable or the doorset is beyond economical repair?

The findings are explained in the report. If you go ahead with a repair, the £79 assessment fee is credited against it. If we cannot provide a quotation, the fee is refunded.

What warranty do you provide?

All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.

Which areas do you cover?

Pro-Lock covers exactly 13 counties: Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, and Leicestershire. London is explicitly excluded from coverage.
