Positioning

Schüco is a German aluminium systems manufacturer. Its folding ranges include the older ASS 70 FD and newer AS FD platforms, made through approved partners and used in high-performance aluminium doorsets with engineered running gear and weather seals.

The ASS 70 FD carries the panels through roller assemblies at the threshold, and those rollers are not treated as a simple adjustment point. Frame-side adjustment profiles and structural expansion details provide the designed correction range, so wear in the roller assembly must not be hidden by repeated ad-hoc adjustments.

Schüco maintenance guidance gives the seals a specific treatment: gaskets are kept supple with a grease stick or suitable treatment, while the locking cylinder has its own lubrication requirement. The bottom track should be vacuumed, and excess lubricant should not be left to collect dirt around the roller assemblies.

The ASS 70 gasket arrangement is designed to move away from the frame as the door opens. A seal that stays displaced, marks the frame or no longer compresses evenly needs to be distinguished from a gasket that is performing its intended movement.

Some older setups can show uneven lock-side frame lines where a floating vertical divider is absent. We record the actual setup and check panel alignment, installation and locking alignment rather than assuming the newer AS FD details apply to an older ASS doorset.

What the assessment actually involves.

It starts with more than a quick look at the handle. Every assessment follows the same nine-stage assessment process, because that is the only way to quote accurately.

We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer's recommended tolerances. Only once that cross-check is complete do we provide an accurate quotation.

The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. No repair work is carried out during the assessment.

You do not need to identify your doorset first.

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job.
