How It Works – Simple, Transparent Bifold Door Repairs
At Pro-Lock, we believe fixing your bifold doors should be straightforward and stress-free. Here is exactly what to expect from first contact through to completed repair, with no jargon, no hidden fees, and no payment until the work is done to your satisfaction.
Step 1. Get in Touch
Call us on 0330 311 0975 or email enquiries@bifold-door-repair.co.uk to tell us what's happening with your bifold doors. A brief description of the fault and your location is all we need to get started. If it helps, let us know whether the doors are sticking, dropping on the handle side, letting in draughts, or not locking properly. Don't worry if you're not sure, our engineers will identify everything during the assessment.
Step 2. Professional On-Site Assessment, £79 Fully Refundable
One of our specialist engineers will visit your property to carry out a thorough assessment, typically lasting 45 to 60 minutes. We inspect all panels, rollers, tracks, hinges, seals, and locking mechanisms, including less obvious issues such as incorrect toe and heel alignment that many general repairers miss entirely.
The assessment fee is £79, fully refundable against the cost of any repair you choose to go ahead with. You are never paying simply for the visit.
Before the assessment, we ask that you leave around two metres of clear space inside and outside the bifold doors where possible. In severe weather we may need to reschedule to protect your home and glazing, and we will always let you know in advance if that is the case.
Step 3. Clear Written Quote
Following the assessment you will receive a clear written quote. Essential repairs are listed separately from any optional improvements, so you remain in full control of the cost. You are free to approve, decline, or ask questions before any work is confirmed. There is no pressure and no obligation.
Step 4. Booking Your Repair
Once you are happy with the quote we schedule a convenient appointment. Fast callouts are often available for urgent faults. We order and check all required parts in advance, including hard-to-find or obsolete components sourced through our trusted suppliers, so that your repair can be completed efficiently and correctly on the day.
Step 5. The Repair
Our engineers carry out all agreed work, which commonly includes realignment and servicing to correct dropped or misaligned panels, roller, hinge, handle, and gasket replacement, lock and mechanism adjustment, and sourcing of specialist or obsolete parts where required.
Our engineers explain everything in plain English, keep to their appointed times, and leave your home as tidy as they found it.
Step 6. Payment on Completion
Once the repair has been completed to your satisfaction, you pay the quoted amount. We accept bank transfer, debit card, and credit card. No payment is taken until you are happy with the work.

My bifold doors are difficult to open. What could be the cause?
-
Common issue: Misaligned "toe and heel" during initial setup of double-glazed units.

Impact: Doors drop, causing frame catching, loose/damaged seals, locking difficulties, and potential mechanical failures.
-
Hinge adjustments won’t fix it – they often make the problem worse.

I've been told I need new bifold doors?

What is "Toe and heel" ?
-
Structural integrity: Bifold doors rely on the double-glazed unit for stability.
-
Natural movement: Panels expand and contract with weather, causing doors to drop over time.
-
When it happens: Often within the first few years of poor installation, or roughly every 10 years as routine maintenance.
-
DIY warning: Units are very heavy – attempting repairs without proper equipment risks glass damage or serious injury.
-
Our expertise: Engineers have the right lifting tools, full knowledge of the process, and full insurance.
