Solarlux bifold door repair.

We assess Solarlux systems for difficult running, dropped or misaligned panels, worn carriages, locking faults, and draughts or water ingress around seals and drainage. The system name can be useful context; the assessment establishes what it actually needs.

Positioning

Solarlux is a German manufacturer of high-value aluminium folding wall systems, including Ecoline and SL 60e configurations. These systems may be floor-mounted or top-hung and use stainless-steel running tracks with carriage assemblies. Locally, Solarlux doors are fitted by HBD Systems in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Solarlux carriages, stainless tracks and configuration — what we see most on Solarlux doorsets

Solarlux doors are engineered as complete folding walls rather than a simple set of hinged leaves. Ecoline and SL 60e systems can use floor-mounted or top-hung running arrangements, so the first brand-specific question is where the load is being carried. A floor-running door with a damaged or contaminated track presents a different repair route from a top-hung door with carrier or head-track movement.

The running gear is a particular feature of these systems. Solarlux documentation describes stainless running tracks and carriage assemblies with double-row deep-groove ball bearings. When operation becomes heavy, the assessment needs to distinguish contamination, track damage, carriage wear and frame distortion; lubrication alone is not a substitute for that distinction.

Solarlux systems are also sensitive to maintenance around the threshold and drainage. Debris or trapped water can affect the running area and accelerate deterioration around seals and hardware, particularly where a door is exposed to wet or cold conditions. We check the drainage path and the track condition together, not as unrelated tasks.

On a high-value aluminium doorset, a handle or lock fault is often the visible end of a wider alignment issue. We test folding and locking under load, then inspect hinges, seals, glazing packers and the running assemblies against the system's measured geometry before recommending a part.

What the assessment actually involves.

This is not a quick look at the handle. Every assessment follows the same nine-stage diagnostic process, and the reason it takes the time it does is that it is the only way to quote accurately.

We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer’s recommended tolerances. Only once that cross-check is complete do we provide an accurate quotation.

The full process is set out stage by stage on our How it works page.

What we assess

  • Fractured or damaged hinges

Cause, not just symptom

Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.

Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended.

The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. No repair work is carried out during the assessment.

The £79 fee covers a professional bifold-door assessment of the complete doorset, credited against the repair cost if you go ahead, and refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair. £79 professional assessment, credited against any repair, or refunded if we cannot quote. 12-month warranty on completed repair work.

You do not need to identify your doorset first.

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.

Warranty

All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.
