Korniche bifold door repair.
We assess Korniche aluminium bifold systems for dropped or dragging panels, worn rollers, alignment faults, stiff handles, and locks that will not engage cleanly. The system name can be useful context; the assessment establishes what it actually needs.
Positioning — where the brand sits
Korniche is a British aluminium bifold system, manufactured in the UK by Made For Trade. It is fitted widely across the south-east of England by independent installers, and it is one of the systems customers most often name when they contact us.
What we see most on Korniche doorsets
Korniche doors are commonly fitted with a slim aluminium frame and large glazed panels. That combination is efficient and looks right, but it means the sash weight is high relative to the amount of frame around it, so alignment matters more than it does on a heavier-framed system. A small amount of movement in the corner packers shows up at the handle long before it is visible on the door.
The most common complaint we attend on a Korniche doorset is a handle that has become stiff or a door that will not lock. In most cases the cause is not the lock. Pressure on the shootbolt rods from a panel that is no longer square is far more often the reason, and the same misalignment is what makes the door drag or catch.
The second most common is draughts and weather sealing. Korniche seals rely on the panel sitting correctly against the frame. Where the panel has moved, the seal loses contact unevenly, and adjusting the cam pressure alone will not restore it until the alignment is corrected first.
Korniche also specifies toe and heel glazing as an integral part of correct installation. Where that has not been done correctly, or has come out of true over time, the panel settles and the hardware takes the strain. It is one of the first things we check, because correcting it resolves a surprising number of apparent hardware faults without replacing anything.
Where we see Korniche doors
Korniche systems are fitted by independent installers across our service area, and we attend them regularly in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent and East Sussex, as well as elsewhere across the ten counties we cover. If you are not sure whether your doorset is a Korniche, that does not matter — we will identify it as part of the assessment.
What the assessment actually involves.
This is not a quick look at the handle. Every assessment follows the same nine-stage diagnostic process, and the reason it takes the time it does is that it is the only way to quote accurately.
We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer's recommended tolerances. Only once that cross-check is complete do we provide an accurate quotation.
The full process is set out stage by stage on our How it works page.

Cause, not just symptom
Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.
Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended.
The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. No repair work is carried out during the assessment.
The £79 fee covers a professional bifold-door assessment of the complete doorset, credited against the repair cost if you go ahead, and refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair. £79 professional assessment, credited against any repair, or refunded if we cannot quote. 12-month warranty on completed repair work.
You do not need to identify your doorset first.
You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.
Warranty
All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.
