Vufold timber movement, range construction and adjustable hardware — what we see most on Vufold doorsets
Vufold is a family of constructions rather than one door material. Timber and engineered hardwood panels respond to moisture and temperature differently from the aluminium-clad Ultra or the aluminium Status and Supreme ranges. We identify the range before treating sticking as a roller failure.
The manufacturer's care guidance calls for inspection of the protective timber finish and regular maintenance of tracks, bearings, hinges and locks. A tired finish can allow moisture-related movement that changes panel gaps and seal compression, so the door surface and frame are part of the repair assessment.
Vufold installation guidance provides adjustment through pivots and intermediate runner assemblies using a screwdriver and Allen key. That can correct a panel that is slightly out of position, but it cannot compensate for a frame that is not level and plumb or for timber movement beyond the available adjustment.
Where a hinge or lock has been operated against resistance, the history matters. We check the frame, runner assemblies and seals, then establish whether the mechanical fault is a consequence of movement or a replaceable component in its own right.
How the assessment supports the right repair.
The assessment follows nine connected stages, from reviewing the doorset’s history and measuring its condition to checking operation, components and manufacturer tolerances. The findings give us a clear basis for an accurate quotation.
We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer's recommended tolerances. After that cross-check, we provide an accurate quotation based on the assessment findings.

You do not need to identify your doorset first.
You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.
