Henderson bifold door repair.

We assess Henderson systems for timber movement, alignment and hardware faults. The system name can be useful context; the assessment establishes what it actually needs.

Positioning

Henderson is a UK sliding and folding door hardware manufacturer whose Securefold Pro range is used for external folding doors; other Henderson products serve different applications. Pro-Lock treats the name as useful system context, then confirms the actual timber doorset, hardware and compatible parts on site. Henderson timber bifolds are encountered across the area we cover, including doorsets built by different fabricators around Henderson hardware.

Timber movement before hardware replacement — what we see most on Henderson doorsets

Timber does not stay dimensionally identical throughout the year. Changes in humidity can affect the fit of panels, the relationship between leaves and the amount of clearance available at hinges, pivots and meeting points. A door that has become tight in one season may not have a failed roller or hinge; the timber movement needs to be separated from a hardware fault before parts are specified.

We look at whether the doorset has settled, whether the panels remain aligned and whether the movement is consistent across the opening. Hinges and pivots can wear or loosen, but replacing them will not correct a frame or panel that has moved. This is why alignment and the condition of the timber are checked before a component-led repair is recommended.

Henderson systems can also present a fault through the running gear: a roller may be worn, a fixing may have shifted, or a lock may be resisting because the leaves are no longer meeting in the position intended. We test operation rather than relying on the appearance of the closed doors, checking the load through the pivots, rollers, hinges and locking points.

The repair route depends on that distinction. Where adjustment restores the intended geometry, parts may not be needed; where timber movement has put continuing strain on worn hardware, the quotation can identify both the underlying alignment work and the compatible replacement components.

Where we see Henderson doors

Pro-Lock covers ten counties across the East of England and the South East: Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex. Henderson systems are encountered across that area. If local prevalence is uncertain, the assessment still identifies the system, its fitted hardware and the practical repair route. London is outside our service area.

What the assessment actually involves.

This is not a quick look at the handle. Every assessment follows the same nine-stage diagnostic process, and the reason it takes the time it does is that it is the only way to quote accurately.

We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer's recommended tolerances. Only once that cross-check is complete do we provide an accurate quotation.

The full process is set out stage by stage on our How it works page.

What we assess

  • Fractured or damaged hinges
  • Broken, worn, or disconnected rollers

  • Panels catching the threshold or header
  • Difficult closing or locking
  • Faulty locks, cylinders, handles, keeps, tracks, guides, and seals

Cause, not just symptom

Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.

Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended.

The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. No repair work is carried out during the assessment.

The £79 fee covers a professional bifold-door assessment of the complete doorset, credited against the repair cost if you go ahead, and refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair. £79 professional assessment, credited against any repair, or refunded if we cannot quote. 12-month warranty on completed repair work.

You do not need to identify your doorset first.

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.

Warranty

All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.
