Beaufort bifold door repair.

We assess Beaufort systems for difficult running, worn rollers, threshold faults, dropped panels, and shootbolts or locks that will not engage cleanly. The system name can be useful context; the assessment establishes what it actually needs.

Positioning

Beaufort is an older aluminium bifold system that is now part of AluK — Beaufort Secure Design was acquired and the range was rebranded as AluK (GB) Limited in 2013. Because of that lineage, replacement parts for these older doorsets can still be sourced, and we are able to source them. That matters where a doorset has been treated as obsolete: an older Beaufort door does not have to mean a new door. Less manufacturer-level technical material exists for the Beaufort name than for the current AluK ranges, so the assessment establishes the actual hardware on the doorset rather than assuming it from the brand.

Beaufort bogie wheels, thresholds and intermediate shootbolts — what we see most on Beaufort doorsets

The Beaufort material describes a distinctive running arrangement: four-wheel bogie assemblies travelling on twin stainless-steel tracks, with a defined maximum panel weight. If the doors become heavy or uneven, we check the bogie assemblies, both tracks, panel geometry and the load transferred through the frame, rather than assuming a single conventional roller has simply worn.

Threshold selection is particularly important on Beaufort doors. The published range includes a standard weather-rated threshold, 34mm low and ramped low thresholds, and a 22mm internal room-divider threshold. A threshold that is unsuitable for the exposure, or a drainage route that is obstructed, can present as water ingress or catching at the bottom of the panel.

The intermediate panels use pop-out T-handles operating top and bottom shootbolts, while the traffic door uses a lever handle and multi-point locking. A locking fault therefore needs to be traced to the relevant leaf and mechanism rather than described simply as a failed "bifold lock". We check the shootbolt travel, keeps, hinges and panel position together, and verify the actual section and part numbers before quoting.

Where we see Beaufort doors

Beaufort systems are fitted locally by Complete Bi-folds UK in Cambridgeshire. We cover Cambridgeshire as part of Pro-Lock's ten-county service area.

What the assessment actually involves.

This is not a quick look at the handle. Every assessment follows the same nine-stage diagnostic process, and the reason it takes the time it does is that it is the only way to quote accurately.

We start with the background and history of the doorset, then take extensive measurements for distortion and check the frame for square and twist. We test operation under load, check drainage paths, and inspect glazing, gaskets and packers. Where parts are involved, components and part numbers are verified against the manufacturer, and every measurement and observation is cross-checked against the manufacturer's recommended tolerances. Only once that cross-check is complete do we provide an accurate quotation.

The full process is set out stage by stage on our How it works page.

What we assess

  • Fractured or damaged hinges
  • Broken, worn, or disconnected rollers
  • Dragging, dropped, or misaligned panels
  • Panels catching the threshold or header
  • Difficult closing or locking
  • Faulty locks, cylinders, handles, keeps, tracks, guides, and seals

Cause, not just symptom

Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.

Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended.

The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. No repair work is carried out during the assessment.

The £79 fee covers a professional bifold-door assessment of the complete doorset, credited against the repair cost if you go ahead, and refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair. £79 professional assessment, credited against any repair, or refunded if we cannot quote. 12-month warranty on completed repair work.

You do not need to identify your doorset first.

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Pro-Lock regularly repairs bifold door systems that other repairers have classed as obsolete, where a suitable repair route can be identified.

Warranty

All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.
